Wait Got Longer for GTA IV Fans

Take-Two Interactive Software has reportedly pushed the release of it's much awaited sequel, Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV), to next year, citing further development as reason for the delay.

Previously, the game was slated for an October 2007 release. With the delay, the game will now be launched sometime in April 2008.
Offering a rationale for the delay, the company said they need more time to develop the game.

GTA IV has been under development for simultaneous release on both Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3.

The delay spells disappointment for both companies, who were up until now, expecting GTA IV to be a driving factor in pushing up sales of their Gen-Next consoles.

Meanwhile, Microsoft had reportedly earlier on penned a $50 million deal with Take-Two for exclusive episodes of GTA IV as well as additional game levels and missions to be made available on it's Xbox 360.

Add to that the sagging sales of PS3 as compared to those of Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, and you have a losing match for Sony... almost..
