Makers of Doom Unveil "Rage"

Here comes another game from the makers of the PC classic, 'Doom'.

id Software's highly anticipated title, "Rage" was unveiled by John Carmack, the company's co-founder and technical director, along with video footage, at the ongoing QuakeCon 2007 in Dallas.
"Rage" has a bit of a classic theme, with players fighting an oppressive government in a post-apocalyptic world. The players become the outsiders, trying to turn the tide in favor of the good.

"Rage" focuses on the racing element, taking players on a roller-coaster ride as they build-up funds, take-on enemies in traditional first person shooter (FPS) settings, and navigate vast tracks using all terrain vehicles (ATVs) and others.

Carmack said "Rage" is built on the company's new Tech5 game engine, which makes it look better, as also better adaptable to different gaming systems.

"Rage" is presently developed for PCs running Windows and Mac, as well as for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gaming consoles. No release date has been announced yet.
